The 316A is a high power UHF triode in a large, spherical envelope. Commonly called a 'doorknob' or 'UFO' style envelope by collectors, this tube was manufactured by a number of vendors including Tung-Sol and General Electric. The two cooling fins on the anode help to dissipate heat from the tightly packed components around the filament.
