The Integrated Photomatrix IPL4064 is a 64x1 general purpose photodiode array intended for use in linescan cameras. Founded by optoelectronics pioneer Peter J.W. Noble, Integrated Photomatrix Ltd. (IPL) was an early British manufacturer of both solid state image sensors and optical scanning equipment. Noble first described the MOS active pixel sensor in 1968, a year before Bell Labs developed the first CCD image sensor.
