Green Epoxy GaAsP LED (Unknown Mfr.)
Written by Accutron on 2008-02-17

This strange device is exactly what it appears to be: a standard GaAsP red LED in a standard 5mm green epoxy case. It is unknown whether this device is a manufacturing error, a failed attempt at producing a new color or some sort of marketing trick. The device produces a pure red light, only slightly dimmed by the green lens.

This device is a strange combination of a normal GaAsP LED die in an equally mundane green epoxy package. It is amusing to think that a LED engineer would actually intend this device to be a commercial product, but it is most likely a manufacturing irregularity.

The green lens has absolutely no color shifting effect on the narrow-band emissions of a GaAsP LED.
